Thanks for the info, Paul! THe information that I have came from the 1850 Census and a bit of hearsay from the internet. There are quite a few Keyes living in and around Smith and Covington Co., MS years later, but I still haven't connected them all up yet. I have a note that William's daughter, Tabitha, married a Patrick Duckworth Speed in 1852 in Covington Co. This came from the Edmund West complilation (Ancestry.com) individual records. These can be somewhat in error, but do have a wealth in info if you know how to take them with a grain of salt. For example, Tabitha's father is listed as Joshua Keyes, but I suspect that this is in error. I have found no records as of yet that Joshua Keyes (b: abt 1775) had any sons named Joshua, therefore I think this is William's daughter. I have also seen some information that suggests that Joshua's wife and mother of William and Benjamin (my ancestor), Sarah was a Cherokee indian. Have you found any evidence of this? Thanks. Let's keep plugging along on this line. Carol Notify Administrator about this message?
