Hi Janice,
I'm researching a line of Keyes that starts with Joshua Keyes, who moved to MS from SC in the 1840s. One of his sons was William Keyes b: Betw 1801-1805. I have not done the research yet on this line, but given the history of the rest of his brothers, I'd say he hung around and likely had a son in MS whom he would have likely had a son around 1830-1850. The next generation would be your missing link around 1860-1890. Here's what I've got, you can see if you find anything to match up with this line.

Joshua and Sarah Keyes boys: all born in SC, but moved to MS in 1840's. Settled in Smith and Covington Counties, mainly.
William (Betw 1801-1805)
Wiley (Abt 1807)
Benjamin (Abt 1810)
John (Abt 1810)
Joseph Berry (1819)

Good luck!
