My great-great-grandfather was Edward Keyes. He came to the U.S. from Ireland in the late 1850's. I don' t know his date of birth or what city he was born in. His wife was Catherine Powers, who was born in Waterford, Ireland. Edward and Catherine lived in Germantown, where their two daughters were born: Katie in 1858 and Anne in 1860. Edward was a road builder and contractor, and in about 1880, he went to the bank one day to get the payroll for his workers. He was last seen alive driving away from the bank. Later he was found murdered on the outskirts of Hudson, and the money was gone.
Catherine moved to New York City in 1885 with Katie. Anne stayed in Hudson, where she married Michael Higgins ( my great-grandfather). Katie and Anne both died in 1895, and Catherine died in 1899.
