Looking for any connection to a Mary Key (b. about 1812, census says NC) who married David Teal (b. 1810-1820, d. by July 1849) in Anson County, NC. Anson is next door to Chesterfield County, SC and that border is a very permeable one, at least to members of my family <G>.

Mary and David had the following children:
William b. 1834
Noah F b. 1836/38
Sarah Ann b. 3 Dec 1838
Ellen b. abt 1841
Benjamin Thomas b. Apr 1846

Her maiden name is listed as Key on the death certificate of her daughter, Sarah Ann Teal Gaddy

b. Dec 3 1838 Anson County NC
d. Dec 29 1916

occupation nurse
cause of death aortic stenosis
parents Dave Teal b. NC
Mary Key b. Anson County, NC
informant John Burr, Morven NC
buried Gaddy Cemetery, Anson County, NC Dec 30 1916

It appears that Mary had siblings:
Noah Keys b. abt 1815
Sarah Keys b. abt 1824
Lydia Keys b. abt 1826

and probably mother, Charity b. abt 1776

In 1860, Mary's youngest children Ellen and Benjamin are liviing with Lydia, Sarah and Noah Key/Keys.

Other than that, I have some land entries for a Robert and a Henry Key in Anson County, NC in the 1770s
