Hi Ben,

Thanks for your e-mail. I've also seen the 1860 Federal Census of Marshall County AL that shows Samuel's birthplace as GA. On Ancestry.com someone has placed him as a child of William and Rachel Hansbrough Key, but the dates don't match well. I've been unable to find his parents, but a Key uncle of mine has consented to a DNA test which hopefully will tell us one way or the other if these are indeed our Keys or not.
Here is what I have for Samuel Key.

First wife was Mary Cockrill b1800-d1840, married 27 Aug 1819 in Clarke County, GA.
Children:
Sarah b1824, John W. b1827, James b1828, Jesse b1829, William b1832-d1870, Samuel Jr b1838, Mary b1840.
Second wife was Widow Nancy Winkles b1802, married 17 May 1841, Marshall County, AL.
Children:
Margaret b1843, Eleanor b1845, Nancy A. b1849. In the 1880 Federal Census of Madison County, AL Samuel was a widower again. He was living with his daughter Margaret and her husband Henry Louis. Hope some of this helps your search.

Debbie
