I am interested in a chap called Ewan Quine KEWLEY 1890-1917. My great aunt (Maud Ponting/Russell)was in a defacto relationship with him. They lived around Sydney. He died overseas in World War 1 in 1917 and there is a bit of correspondence regarding him and his death on the National Archives of australia website at www.naa.gov.au and www.cwgc.org He came from the Isle of Mann and there is memorial in the church at Douglass.
I am not sure if you use the NSW BDM index, if not see http://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/search.htmhttp://www.bdm.nsw.gov.au/familyHistory/search.htm You can also order copies of cheap transcribed certificates see www.transcriptions.com.au
George Alfred KEWLEY m. 1940 Petersham Ellen Mary MURPHY (no. 23524/1940) It seems they may have divorced as in 1956 Ellen Mary KEWLEY marries Keith CAREW in Sydney (no. 8083/1956)whilst George also remarries in 1956. George Alfred KEWLEY m. Mavis KILDUFF in 1956 reg SYDNEY (no. 14283/1956)
If you buy either of the 2nd marriages it should have the divorce details added then you can follow up the divorce through either the State Records www.records.nsw.gov.au or the Supreme Court of NSW in Sydney.
I am notcertain if you use the Ryerson Index it is very useful as well. There are a number of contemporary Kewley'slisted including death ofGeorge Alfred KEWLEY who died 11 FEB 1973, late of Yagoona. See Death notice Sydney Morning Herald 13 FEB 1973. On the NSW BDM site his parents are listed as ALFRED JOHN & CECILIAKewley.
