There are many variations of the name Kettering, which was originally Kettenring. Another variation was Catron. It is highly likely that Kettren is also.My branch,from Bavaria,came 1st to Pa.around the mid 1760s, went to Tenn. and ended up back in Pa. So there were many Ketterings in Pa. when your ancestor arrived. There are others in the Forum who know more about the family than I do-hope they contact you. Good luck
