The only information I have on the Ketter family names is as follows. (From a 1983 book by Halbert's Inc. - not really a great source)

"The surname Ketter is a comparatively rare name, and appears to be patronymical in origin. Our research indicates that it can be associated with the Germans, meaning, "descendant of Katharina (the pure)."

This is not much help, but I will see if I can find out anything else.
