Dear Randall,

My ancestor, Joseph Henry Kerwin, was born June 16, 1845 in or near Syracuse NY and entered the Army of the Potomac at Cicero NY. He was wounded in the Battle of the Wilder-
ness, VA. After the War he traveled by train to Southern Illinois, and settled there. My hometown is Centralia, Illinois and my mother still lives there.

He was orphaned when quite young, placed in a Catholic orphange. We believe there were two other siblings, whom he could not locate after the War, and have always been lost to us.

We have serached a lifetime for the names of his parents. There are two "John Kerwins" in the 1850 Census, but we are unable to confirm a relationship.

Barb
