Kristin:(Hi cousin!)
Catherine KERST was dau of George KERST and Elizabeth GELBACH (Union Twp).George KERST's will of 1807 provides for wife Elizabeth and sons John, Samuel, Daniel, George, Jacob, Catherine DeTRUK 750 pounds, Magdalena, Christina, Hannah, Mary and ELizabeth.Catherine had a dau, Hannah DETRUK, to whom 25 pounds was also bequeathed. This will was proved 11/6/1807. Executor was son John KERST and son-in-law John NICORIAH who m Mary KERST.
As far as I can prove, Elizabeth GELBACH was dau of Johanne and Christina GELBACH whose will of 1794 and proved 2/4/1804 gave her dau Elizabeth, wife of George KERST, 1/3 of her estate as well as the two other daughters, Catherine, late wife of Daniel Guldin, and Magdalena, wife of Christian HUNTER.Executors were George KERST and grandson Daniel GULDIN. Christina GELBACH was wife of Johannes GELBACH who also has a will from 1758 in Oley. I do not know what it says.
There is a DAR file for Samuel DeTURCK and Catherine KERST by a descendent of their son John DeTURCK. He (Samuel) served as a private in Capt J Sand's company, 5th Battalion, Berks County, according to that file.(Check Ancestry.com's DAR files.)So they had two children HAnnah and John/
George KERST (1735-1807) was son of Johannes KERST and Eva Rosina RITTER . KERST could have been KERSTEN in Germany.I do not have proofs any further back yet.Hope this helps some.If you look on WORLDCONNECT of rootsweb and search for KERST, you should find our KERST's in a tree by Guy Bierman.
Stay in touch. If you have any other questions, please write me.Thanks, Diana in Alabama.
