Hi again, My ancester was the Hugenot Jacque Cossart/Corzett/Cosat who came to New York City abt 1662 and was at one time the Treasurer of New York City. One of his descendents went to Philidelphia,Pa, and became a wealthy business man(not my line). His daughter was Mary Casat/Cassatt, the well known painter. His son was Alexander J Cassatt/Casat who was, at a point, the President of the Pennsylvania Railroad during the period of its greatest growth and during the building of the Pennsylvania or Penn Station in NYC. He died in 1906 just before its completion. I believe he put his name on the town of Cosat/Cassatt,Kershaw Co,SC. So, I guess you could say that you are named after one of the world's greatest painters, Mary Cassatt. And if you would like a statue in bronze of the man who built the original town, you will find it at the Strasburg,Pa, Railroad Museum where it was moved from Penn Station(Alexander Cassatt).
