I tried to post a long message and was not successful.I do have Kershaws in Louisville and Mass.Isaac Holt Kershaw was born in Mass. The 1880 census gives the following:Thomas Kershaw, 53, England, worker in Cotton Mill; Hannah, 33, England;Thomas, 10, New York; John W., 7, Mass; Isaac, 3, Mass; James H. 11 m.A 1910 Louisville census shows them moved there with following: ANNA ? Kershaw 63, England; John 36,New York; Isaac 33, New Jersey; Elizabeth 28,KY.A 1890 Louisville city directory lists some Hirsts as being associated with Falls City Jeans & Woolen Mills.Family history said that these Kershaws come from England to work in the mills. They say Thomas William Kershaw m. Phyllis Bond. Her family owned the mills where he worked. They were not too happy with the marriage and the family sent the to the U. S.THeir son, John married Hannah Hirst in Mass and they later moved to KY.John was from Yorkshire and Hannah from Liverpool.
I also have the following:James Kershaw,65, arrived in U.S. from England aboard SS City of Richmond sailing from Liverpool to N.Y. 18, June, 1877.
I have a bit more information, but not much. This part of the family has been very hard to trace.
I will look forward to any information anyone may have.
Carolyn
