Richard: I noticed in your posting you mention Kershaw County. Well a couple of years ago I had the opportunity to stay in Kershaw County, South Carolina (I currently live in Atlanta, Georgia), we stayed in a small town by the name of Cheraw. The people whose guest house we stayed in were born and raised there and obtained some interesting info about the founding Fathers, namley, the County was named after a Joseph & Eli Kershaw, who were actually from Yorkshire, England (I was born and raised in Lancashire), I'll try and find the stuff they gave me from the archives of the historical society and get back to you. Hope this adds a bit of light to your search.
