Kersh Family Genealogy Forum

Hello. Did he serve in WWI or WWII? I have seen a J.J. Kersh in one of the "enlistment" rolls (I forget right off hand which one) and was wondering who he is. Could this be Jesse James Kersh? Also, have you "run" across an Ollie Kersh married to a Ruth or Mary Redfearn? I found this in a book about the history of Rankin County, MS, volume I/II, but I don't know who he is either. I've been researching the "whole" line of Kershes going back to the immigration to South Carolina in/about 1744 for the last 4 years now. I still have a few "brick" walls to knock down, if possible, to include everyone. Have you ever been to the Shiloh Methodist Church/Campground/Cemetery about 15-20 minutes east of Brandon,MS? This is the site where the Kershes settled upon arriving in MS, while migrating from SC. They were actually on their way to Texas in a wagon train with many other families, and they were camping at this site overnight, when a little became injured while playing and then died. It is still unknown for certain whose family she belonged to, but the wagon train split up and about half continued on to Texas, while the others settled here, among them the Kershes. Off the "top of my head" I am guessing that about 3/4, or so, of the cemetery is of Kershes and their kin. There is a Kersh family reunion, for all branches, there every year the 1st weekend of May. Gotta go, I'll talk with you later,
Robert L. Kersh
