Genetic connection found between Kerseys and Caseys
I am very excite to announce the discovery that shows a definite genetic connection between a very early Kersey
line and my Casey line. This particular Casey genealogical cluster has sixteen DNA submissions and all submissions
all suspected ties or direct ties to western South Carolina in the mid 1700s. Family tradition has this line with
origins in Virginia and County Tyrone, Ireland. However, DNA is giving a very different view. This cluster may share
a very early connection to another Casey genealogical cluster that have significant ties to southwestern Ireland
counties. Also, none of the Virginia submissions have genetic ties the South Carolina cluster.
I just recently discovered (and this DNA submission is not new), a Kersey DNA submission that matches the
very unique DNA fingerprint of the South Carolina Casey cluster. I missed this early Kersey submission as
it was done a very long time ago when Ancestry.com offered fewer markers than has done in the last few
years - my searches only included markers that were in common with FTDNA and Ancestry.com.This is a
very exciting discovery since this is the first individual outside of South Carolina that shows the very
unique South Carolina Casey DNA fingerprint. Additionally, this Kersey submission has a much earlier genetic branch
as well. This Kersey submission shows the oldest proven ancestor as John Kersey, b. 1611, Oxford, England.
Does anyone have access to any other Kersey DNA submissions ?Anyone aware or connected to this early Kersey line
in England ?This Kersey DNA submission can be found via Y-Search (9BCZF).It appears that our South
Carolina Casey brick wall may be due to a name change and intermediate English origin that we were
not looking for. Look forward to hearing from you.
