Hi Stephen--

I noticed that the family next door to this group of siblings is:

Hannah Kersey 39 b. PA
Rebecca " 4 b. PA
Melinda " 4/12 b. PA

All in East Connoquenessing, Butler, PA.
Hannah is likely the mother or possibly a sister-in-law. There are no Kerseys in the 1860 census of Butler Co. PA. In 1840 there was a James Kersey in Connoquenessing, Butler Co. The return is: 0 2 0 0 0 0 1 -- 0 1 1 0 0 1.
The number and sex of the children matches, the ages of the boys are a bit off: 2 males 5-10 years old. The ages of the females match up pretty well: 1 5-10, 1 10-15, 1 30-40. Thus it seems likely that James Kersey of 1840 is the father and probably died in 1849 or 1850.

Hope this helps,
Marv Miller
