John Townsend McWilliam 4/15/99
John- Thanks for your interest. My McWilliam ancestry in America starts with my great great Grandfather Archibald McWilliam. He was born at Pynannot Parish, Barr Ayrshire, Scotland on March 10, 1818 and died in 1893 in Northboro, MA.He came to Canada as a young man and married Jessie Ewart (1830-1900) on May 14, 1852 in Huntingdon, Lower Canada. This union produced the following children: Jessie, James, Archibald (my great grandfather), Elizabeth, and Sarah Jane--all born in Canada. They came to the USA and settled in Northboro, MA, Worcester, MA, and Oxford, MA.The McWilliam Family was in the textile business and owned mills in Nothboro and North Oxford. The mill in North Oxford, MA was consumed by a diastrous fire in 1943.Today, there are about 20 plus descendents of Archibald McWilliam.
