Hi, My ggg-grandfather Samuel Kerr is my brick wall. My mother & I have been researching him for years with no success. We are on a major genealogy site and have exhausted their data bases to no avail. I am hoping that someone out there can help me. Here is what we know. Samuel Kerr was born in approx 1833 (my grandfather was adamant that was the year but we have no proof)in Scotland. He immigrated to Quebec, Canada. Family stories say he came to Canada as a grown man and he was the only 1 of his family to come. We do not know when he immgrated but we know that in January of 1857 he married Margaret Jane McCook in Aylmer, Quebec. They lived on the family farm not far from Aylmer. They had 9 children. Samuel was killed in a wagon accident in 1875. Here is my only clue: Samuel's wife Margaret Jane would write back to Samuel's mother & sister(s) and continued to do so after his death. She passed away in 1920. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Anyone have a missing Samuel or remember hearing about letters from Canada? Any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you Heather Notify Administrator about this message?
