John,
This is an old message, so I hope this reaches you. After several years of research by myself, and the good people at the Lancaster Historical Society, I think that I now may have a lead on Elizabeth KERR'S parents.
This is still in research and slow it is, but when you think that our family has been searching since 1952 for her parents. WELLLLLLL
Marjorie McCreary in her book " The John McCreary Clan" has stated that Elizabeth KERR was the daughter of Josiah KERR. The same that sold his farm to Rev. John Cuthbertson of the Middle Octorara Presbyterian Church in 1752 and then moved to Mt.Pleasent, Adams, PA... It has taken me awhile to trace Joshiah's line far enough for me to think that this is not the same KERR'S. He and his wife Mary Dinwiddie did have a daughter named Elizabeth, born in 1765, but in Mt. Pleasent, Adams,PA., not in Bart, Lancaster,PA.. Their Elizabeth did not marry my 4 g grandfather John CAUGHEY.
Lancaster Hist So. found for me the will of John KARR,(KERR) of Bart twp.,Lancaster, who died in May 1785. His wife's name was Martha. Children were: Elizabeth, Martha, William, John, James, Joseph, and Samuel. The inventory of John's estate was done by William KARR and Francis CAUGHEY. Francis is my 5 g grandfather, and if this is her line Francis would be Elizabeth's father-in-law.
Would like to correspond with you.
