Kerns, Coe family in Virginia

Good evening! I am looking for additional information on John E. Kerns. I am also willing to share what information I have. He was born in Sept. 1832 in Virginia. I located him in the 1860 census in Collinsville, Frederick County, VA. He was 27 years old. His wife, Emily Sophia Coe, was 23. They had three children at the time: Wilson S., age 5, William B (my ggggrandfather), age 3 and Mary L.B., age 8/12 mos. I believe he may have been in the 1st Virginia Infantry, under Benjamin Kelley. I found that information from the 1895 census in Winona County, KS. I have traced him from VA, to OH, to KS and back to OH, where he died. I have also traced some of his other children.

I would like to find out who his parents were and where they originally came from and if, in fact, he joined the 1st Virginia Infantry in Maryland as a driver for"Kelley's Division".

If you would like to share information, please contact me.
