Kris,
I too am descended from John Kerlin (1722-1812) and would like clarification on who his father is. Many sites list Metgen (with or without a "Peter?") and a few list Jacob, but Jacob seems like a wraith. I cannot find his wife nor any children other than, possibly, John Kerlin.
As for John Kerlin's son Jacob's date of birth, I have 10 Jan 1755, but my notes give the source as Matthew Getz! Maybe Matthew can help us out.
My lineage goes from John Kerlin (1722-1812) to Jacob Kerlin (1755-1814) to John Kerlin (1779-1853) to John Kirlin (1817-1886) to Edmund Suitterlin Kirlin (1869-1955) to Delmar Latson Kirlin (1897-1971) to my father Daniel Lee Kirlin of Indiana (1926-1956).
