Samuel Kerlin (b. Oct 11, 1816; d. Sep 23, 1893) actually married Catherine Miller (b. Apr 12, 1819; d. Feb 4, 1856) with whom he had William Miller Kerlin (b. Dec 3, 1848). The "Mary" in the 1860 you're talking about is Mary Pence (b. Aug 25, 1830; d. Apr 20, 1893), Samuel's second wife. He married Mary on Nov 18, 1858 and married Catherine Dec 19, 1844. Catherine was the d/o of Adam Miller and Mary Harpine. Mary was the d/o Phillip Pence and Catherine Bowers.
Samuel was the s/o David Kerlin and Barbara Ann Hudson. He was the 4th of 13 children. I have more on this line in both directions if you'd like.
William married Mary E. May and had the 3 children you list (Charles Samuel, Carrie L. and Mark Clinton).
