I have differing information than yours. I show Jacob Kerlin, s/o John and Elizabeth Hill Kerlin, being born Jan 10, 1755 in Berks County, PA and dying bef. Mar 17, 1814 in Shenandoah County, VA. Jacob is considered the Kerlin pioneer in Shenandoah County. He's buried at Solomon's Lutheran Church cemetery in Forestville, VA. About 1780 he married Hannah Umstead and had the following children: 1) John Kerlin, Sr. (b. abt. 1780) m. Elizabeth Zell. 2) Samuel Kerlin (b. btw. 1780-1800). 3) David Kerlin (b. May 1, 1784) m. Barbara Hudson. 4) Elizabeth Kerlin (b. Aug 22, 1788) m. John Kingree. 5) William Kerlin (b. Apr 30, 1790) m. Lydia Thompson. Most importantly, here's the sources I have listed for this information: 1) Church Book for the Congregation of St. Gabriel's Church By Morleton in Amity Township, Berks County. (Lists burial records of John and Elizabeth Kerlin, including their ages) 2) Berks Co., PA Will Book D, p. 41. (Lists the children of John and Elizabeth Kerlin) 3) Berks Co., PA Deed Book 10, pp. 162 et al.
