Dear Matthew,

In an obit for my great great grandmother's sister, Tamson (nee Lane) PARKER, it states she is the great granddaughter of Walter CARR (however it is written), who was the chief elder of Tennent Church in Manalapan. This may in error since I have yet to find a direct son named Walter; she more likely was the great great granddaughter; be that as it may.

Tamson's mother's name was Lettitia KERR (b. 1803), and her marriage record to Joseph LANE in 1824 says her father was Walter KERR, Jr.. The LANE's resided in Upper Freehold, and later migrated to Cassville. The 1840 NJ/Upper Freehold census shows the Joseph LANE family living closely to his mother Agnes, and Lettita (Kerr) LANE's father {based on the age bracket of 80 - 90}.

I cannot find any marriage records for him in the late 1700's, or the early 1800's. There is a marriage for a Walter KERR, Jr. to a Sarah in 1833, which could be a second marriage; if this is indeed her father.

Since the were three grandsons to Walter KER named Walter, it's difficult to say which original son we are descended from.

If you know the lineage which contains Lettitia KERR, I would greatly appreciate seeing it. Thank You for any assistance.

Yours in genealogy,

Jeff MYER
