Hi Michael Karr,
I sent a message before I updated my email address, so I'm retyping.
I am a direct desc. of Walter Ker and Margaret Johnstone, dau. of James Johnstone. I am trying to make the connection, a gap of two generations betw. two Walters. Genealogical cousins have suggested that the elder Walter had a son John and he in turn had a son John, m. Martha and then my Walter Kerr b. 7 Nov 1759 and also living Tennent, NJ during the Battle of Monmouth (1778). He fought in the battle and it is rumored that his house was used as a hospital for the wounded.
I was born and raised in Freehold but with the help of the historical society, I can't find any other evidence of John except for Walter buying land and it saying that it would go to his sons John and James upon his death. I believe that was 1701.
I am hoping that you may have some clues in your family Bible or you may have a bit of info that could send me searching anew.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
