I've seen a number of postings for a Walter Ker of Scotland --> Tennant, NJ. All of you may be happy to know that I have just gotten back from Dalserf, Scotland, where Walter was born. While the official records of the church (those which would list the birth, baptism, etc.) of Dalserf citizens are not actually held by the church, I was able to get some contact information for the caretake of the church itself. The records I mentioned are apparently held by the offices for the Church of England in Edinburgh. I do plan on making contact with both of these groups very shortly in hopes of getting some history on the area. Perhaps we can learn a bit more about this Ker's in this region, since in the 1600' the Ker's were the main family there.
I was not able to locate any Ker's in the church's cemetery. However, the oldest headstones I located were dating back only to the late 18th century. I wonder if all Ker's had left by then. You may find intersting, though, that I found a Chrystian Ker buried under the floor of Westminster Abbey (!) and will be contacting the library there for more information on who she was. She was not actually a Ker, but was married to William Ker of Tiviotdale (?) in Scotland. Does anyone know about him?
