Good day listers. To introduce myself: I was born in the Princess Elizabeth Nursing Home (later, I think, the Faculty of Dentistry) in Nairobi in July 1957. I was educated at Westlands Primary School, and - between 1965-1970 - at Kenton College, Nairobi. I left Kenya in 1970. I have an interest in the St. John Ambulance Brigade, and from that comes my request for help. I am seeking more information on Mrs Eluned (‘Lyn’) Hopkins. Mrs Hopkins was born in Treorky, Glamorganshire in South Wales in April 1910. She rendered voluntary service with the St. John Ambulance Brigade Overseas, presumably in Kenya, during the Second World War. She married (I think as her second husband?) John Hopkins, who was the son of the Rev. Arthur Joseph Hopkins, Chairman and General Superintendent of the Kenya District, Methodist Missionary Society. Mrs Hopkins was appointed as Divisional Superintendent, Nakuru No.1 Ambulance and Nursing Division, Kenya District, St. John Ambulance Brigade in March 1957. She seems to have left Kenya and returned to the United Kingdom after Independence. She settled in Boscombe, Bournemouth, where she died in April 1977. Can any list member shed any more light on Mr and Mrs Hopkins? Thank you William Notify Administrator about this message?
