Hi, I am seeking any new information, or a photo, of Charles Ruickbie Davidson born January 7, 1889 at Melrose, Roxburghshire, Scotland. His parents were Alexander Davidson (auctioneer) and Margaret Turnbull who married September 18, 1871 at Melrose. His siblings were Margaret, Andrew, Mark, and William. He was a great-great-grandson to James Ruickbie the borders area poet and innkeeper of the Harrow Inn in Hawick, and great-grandson to Robert Govenlock Innkeeper of the Mosspaul hotel. Charles Ruickbie Davidson died October 11 1966 at Cookes Drive, Nairobi Kenya, Africa. His death notice in the Gazette Feb 14, 1967 stated that he was The Engineer & Town Planner for Nairobi. He was appointed by her Majesty to the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire on June 11, 1960, as seen in the Gazette. At this time he was the Planning & Development Advisor to the city council of Nairobi. Charles earlier in his career was a Second Lieutenant in the Royal Scots (Lothian Regiment) infantry, promoted there August 27, 1915. He may have been promoted further. Any info, or leads, greatly appreciated. Regards, LarryR Notify Administrator about this message?
