I don't have any info about mayor's of Nairobi but I do have a record of 3 Riddell's buried in Forest Road Cemetery, Nairobi.
Riddell, Margaret Wilson. Scottish. age 38 died 16.11.18, buried 17.11.18. block 4 grave 1
Riddell, William Young. British. age 30 died 3.12.23. buried 11.12.33. Block 13 grave 36
Riddell George. British. age 36. died 27.5.24. buried 28.5.24. Block 22 grave7
The grave of Margaret has the following inscription
in loving memory/Margaret Wilson/wife of James Riddell/died 16th Nov 1918/aged 38.
It seems as if Margaret may have been the wife of your James but I can find no record of the burial of James anywhere.
