Three years ago I posted regarding pictures I took of the gravesite of Simon Kenton Jr. in Monon, Indiana. Due to various fluctuations in the ebb and flow of life I may not have sent pictures to those that requested them. In order to rectify this situation I have posted some of the pics on my website: www.killion.biz Simon Kenton Jr. is buried in the Wilson cemetery just outside of Monon in White County, Indiana. Six of Simon Kenton's offspring settled in White County, including his son William Miller Kenton, Simon Jr.'s half brother. I believe Wm. is buried in Monticello. The Wilson Cemetery is quite picturesque. I visited Monon with my younger brother and we found the cemetery after a stop at the local library where the librarian told us that the plot was located in the middle of a field owned by a man named Buzz. She also mentioned that we might want to be careful since Buzz owned a particularly irascible bull who considered that field his own little fiefdom. At any rate, we found the cemetery and got permission from Buzz to drive out to it. The place is surrounded by a wrought iron fence and contains numerous gravesites, some in quite a state of disrepair. In the middle of the grounds, however, stand the graves of Simon Jr., his wife Sarah and their daughter Elizabeth. Their graves are well tended and someone had planted flowers on them, the only graves in the area which had some. I'm descended from Simon Jr. and Sarah through their daughter Martha Ann, who married Benjamin Ball, one of the proprietors of Monon. Benjamin and Martha Ann are also buried in the Wilson Cemetery, as are Daniel and Mary (Kenton) Murray mentioned in the previous post. I haven't spent much time on genealogy in a couple years and am just now finding time to do so. I'd be happy to reacquaint myself with those I've corresponded with in the past who may still be active in this forum. Also, please excuse the lameness of my website, it's my first one and I haven't read the instructions yet... Rayburn Killion Notify Administrator about this message?
