Kent family of Wicklow, Ireland
I have a Post Card, view of Shannon Bridge, Athlone, posted on 16 August 1904 from Athlone to Mrs. R. Kent, Church Hill, Wicklow, reading: I send congratulations & hope you & the youngest of the family are getting on well. Signed, K. Caldwell.
In the 1901 Census of Ireland, Robert John Kent, a corn miller and merchant, and his wife Georgiana are living at 1 Church Hill in Wicklow with six children, George H., John M., Robert J., Fred B., James B., and Ida Mary. By 1911, they had moved to 6 Abbey Street in Urban Wicklow, adding two more children including Geoffrey Thomas Kent who was the “youngest of the family” referred to in the post card, and his sister Isabella.
K. Caldwell is likely Kathleen Caldwell, a single governess, living with her widowed mother Kate Caldwell at 19 Main Street, Wicklow, 1901; also likely the same as Kathleen Elizabeth Caldwell, a single governess, found with the widow Annie Emmeline Hughes and her family in Carrick Fergus, Antrim, in 1911.
Post Card purchased in Georges Street Arcade, Dublin, in 2001. Happy to scan and send digital copies to anyone interested.
