William Kent appeared to get land, 9th section, declared that Alexander Kent (now deceased) regularly mustered into service as private Company D, 4th Illinois Volunteers Regiment, marched to seat of war , to wit, Mexico, served in war with Mexico until disbanding and mustering out with company and regiment, honorably discharged, 11 June 1847, Sangamon County, Illinois, Alexander has died leaving no widow or children, and affiant is the father. His mark, William Kent. 8 Apr 1848.
Know ye that Alexander Kent is a private of Capt. A Morris Company 4th Regiment of Illinois Volunteers who was enlisted the 9 June 1846 to serve 12 months is hereby honorably discharged from the Army of the United States caused by the discharging of his Regiment. Said Alexander Kent is 26 years of age and was born in the state of Ohio, Union County, five feet 7 inches high, light complexion, blue eyes, red hair, and by occupation when enlisted a farmer,. Given at New Orleans this 26 day of 1847, A. C.
Campbell, Leiut. D Company 4th Regiment Illinois Volunteers."
