Hello Janice,
I wanted to ask you about your Thomas Kent.Have you found out any more detail about him than what you have posted on Genforum?
The reason I ask is because I am searching for a Thomas Kent who was the brother of my gg-grandfather James Randal Kent.Their father was James L. Kent who is possibly the son of Levi and Dorcus Kent, though I haven't proven that.
The Thomas Kent I seek was listed as the son of James Kent in Butler Co., AL in the 1850 census. He was listed as being 12, which would make his birth date 1837 or 1838.I know that is a little off from the date you have posted, but I've seen many mistakes in recording birth dates in the census records, so I wouldn't rule it out.
Thomas was the oldest of four sons. Also listed were Joseph, Henry, and Randal.I believe this is the family of my James L. Kent and his sons Henry H. and James Randal who moved to Caddo Pa., Louisiana in 1865/66 after the civil war.
Henry H. Kent enlisted in the CSA in Butler Co., AL into Company H of the 59th Alabama Infantry. Also serving in the same unit was a Thomas Kent, whom I believe may be Henry's older brother.
If you have any information about any of this I would appreciate having it.I will be happy to share what I have. Thanks, Diana
