James Kinnett m. Ruth Butt on 17 Aug 1815 in Adams County (later Brown County), Ohio. It is probable that Ruth was the daughter of Mary A. Butt (or Butts) who was a widow. It is unknown who her husband was. But there were these other Butt marriages about the same time: Regnal N. Butt m. Anna Mann 12 Dec 1816 John Butt m. Delilia Sellers 6 Nov 1817 Betsey Butt m. Joseph Jacobs 7 Nov 1816 Also married but not in Brown/Adams County were these: Samuel A. Butt m. Elizabeth Spires (or Spyers) Thomas Butt m. Mary Berry 14 Aug 1817 in Clermont County, Ohio Regnal, Samuel and Thomas were all born in Maryland before 1796. Betsey (the youngest) was born in Kentucky in 1797. I wonder if this Butt family knew the Kinnett family even before they all settled in southern Ohio. Perhaps they migrated together? Is it possible that the family of James Kinnett and his wife, Ruth Butt, settled in Ripley County, Indiana? There were a number of Kinnett marriages there including Elizabeth Kinnett to Thomas Butt on 22 Apr 1850. Did she marry a cousin? Notify Administrator about this message?
