Samuel and Elin married in Lower Poer, England in 1710; I do not know when they arrived here but they were listed as "Irish" when they were given a grant of land in the Irish sector of Orange Co, Lord Beverly's 135,ooo grant. Not enough Irish met the qual-ifications so non-Irish were given land.Since there were already Kennerlys in VA, it's possible they lived near them (one was named Joshua).Three ofSamuel and Elin's children were already at least 21 when they got the land in Orange (later Culpeper) Co because each of them were granted land; the other daughter was got land when she turned 18. Their children were Thomas, b 1711-1714, who married Mary Margaret Bloodworth and moved toS.C.; my ancestor, James, b 1715-1718 who married Elizabeth Winston James in June 1743, Elizabeth b c 1718, who married Jeremy Strother, and Catherine, who married a Coleman, son of the founder of the city of Halifax (later named Culpeper).
