"Sam Tag" was the child of Samuel Jackson Kennerly and Helen Taylor. The book is about his life in Franklin Co. TN during the War Between the States, when he was about 12 and of his brothers, who were in the CFA although his father was pro-Union.
He later moved to Gainesville, TX, where he married a Bird, but returned to Tennessee shortly before his death.
The name Samuel is the most frequently used name in the Kennerly family, going back to the immigrant Samuel in the early 1700s. I have never seen the name Conrad in any records, however.
The book was reprinted by the Franklin Co. Historical Assn. in Winchesteer, TN as one of their annual supple-ments. They may have some copies left.
