Kennelly Family Genealogy Forum

Craig,
One of my cousins wrote me several years ago and told me that the ancestors of President Kennedy sailed from a dock that the Kennelly family owned. Since my family was from Co. Kerry, I presume this was on the Shannon River around Tarbert...not far from Limerick. However, I always thought this was farfetched. But John and Hanora...these names are the first names of my great great grandfather's parents...that is if they followed Irish naming practices. My Kennelly family seem to come from the Ballylongford/Listowel/Tarbert area. Jeremiah (Darby) my gggrandfather was married in Kerry to Ellen Mulvihill, whose father was Jeremiah M.
Jeremiah Kennelly's first son was John. His second daughter was Mary. According to Irish naming practices Jeremiah's parents would be John and Mary. I have heard that Honora and Mary were often interchanged. ??? I know Jeremiah was sometimes Darby. Did the Irish sometimes use English first names at some times and revert to Irish first names at other times. I don't know if you can help. Let me know if any of this rings a bell.
