Kennelly Family Genealogy Forum
My Limerick connections may be as follows:
Ggg-grandfather - Edmund (or Edward) Kennelly, born circa 1791. His wife's Christian name may have been Nancy, maiden surname unknown. My gg-grandfather was John Kennelly, born in "Ireland" 1820-1821. Siblings were probably Jeremiah (b. ~1815) and Mary (b. ~ 1818). The family - with or without Edmund (I have found no record of him in England) - moved to Liverpool some time before 1839. Jeremiah married Johanna Lynch (date & place unknown) and their first daughter, Mary, was born in December 1839 in Liverpool. Also in 1839 in Liverpool, Mary (b. ~1818) married Cornelius Donovan. Mary's father is listed in her marriage certificate as "Edward" and she resided in Highfield Street, Liverpool. The 1881 census gives Mary's place of birth as "Limerick". In the 1841 census, John is residing with Jeremiah and Johanna at 16 Highfield Street, as is a Nancy Kennelly who is twenty years older than Jeremiah. Jeremiah and Johanna had three other children, Jeremiah, Michael and Bridget between 1839 and 1846 - all born in Liverpool and all baptized at St. Mary's Highfield Street. I lose track of them after Bridget's birth in 1846. John married Catherine Collins in Liverpool in 1841. His father is listed as "Edmund". They had two sons and four daughters: Edward (1842), Catherine, Ann, Mary, Ellen, and John (1849). The latter is my great grandfather. Hope this meshes with any information you have.
