At last - a Kennelly reunion
The Kennelly Family reunion is definitely happening in 2001!
It has been scheduled for the 25th to 29th of July in Bunratty, County Clare, the "jewel of the west of Ireland". Bunratty is a village 10 miles outside Limerick where many Kennelly branches originated, and just 4 miles from Shannon airport. There is a folk park at Bunratty which is a popular tourist attraction, lots of nearby leisure activities, and of course spectacular scenery. Bunratty has its own castle with legendary medieval banquets which will give us the opportunity to all get together for a celebratory meal, and we look forward to raising a toast to Kennellys past and present at "Durty Nelly's," Ireland's oldest pub, which is in the village. If there is sufficient interest we can organise a trip to Limerick Genealogy Centre. We hope all of you out there who have put off your trip to Ireland will think about going for it this year and making the reunion the high point of your visit.
There are two large hotels in the village. The Bunratty Castle Hotel, and the Fitpatrick Bunratty Hotel. There are also lots of B&Bs and guesthouses in and around the village, many of which can be located at http://www.shannonheartland.ie/accommodation/index.htmlhttp://www.shannonheartland.ie/accommodation/index.html
You should find this website helpful and you can also access some useful genealogy sources. If you use your search engine to look for "Bunratty" you will certainly find a wealth of information about the area.
We would like to extend an open invitation to anyone with an interest in Kennellys to come along and join us. This could be your once in a lifetime opportunity to discuss your family history with people who are actually interested in it! If you can persuade any long-suffering partners/friends/relatives/ hostages/ to accompany you there are plenty of alternate attractions on offer and everyone will be made welcome.
If you decide to book please let us know either via this list or privately.
Watch out for further updates
