Dear Denise, I am from windgap , and I knew the quinns you speak of or at least I think I do, I farm in the area,I remember a fellow called Jimmy Quinn ,he passed away about 12 yrs ago ,I recall my Mother saying we were related to him, distant cousin I think, he and his sister owner a farm close to my farm and He inherited it from Ned and Blackie Kennedy, his uncles I think,I think we are of the same stock as those Kennedys, we arrived in this area in 1750 approx ,there are lots of families of Kennedys mentioned in the griffith valuations,I think most if not all are descended from the original men who came from wexford,I know the original quinn house in polerone ,tullahought I think its in ruin and may have been removed but the kennedy house in bawnreigh is still there and was bought by a Cronin lady,,there are still some quinn families in Tullahought,I will enquire if they are related to Jimmy Quinn, as regards Mcgrath, there was a family of that name very close to the kennedy house, its long since gone and the land is owned by a Richard Barry ,I think the lane leading to the house was knocked down abut ten yrs ago.I recall that the father of the family was killed in an accident in the slatequarries [I have a story of the incident if you are interested ,that would be back in the 1920 or maybe earliert I think ,maybe .all the name your other correspondent mention are familar to me,,There is an old Lady living in the retirement home in kilmoganny whose name is Quinn, she 93 or maybe a bit older ,,my email is bawnlanabh@yahoo.ie,if you wish to contact me, there is lots of imformation in the parish records in Windgap, but the priest is a very busy man,,I think they are available on micro film fron the national library or some such agust body,,thats all hope I have been of some help,,I would be interested in the slatemen mentioned by the other gentleman, the walshs lived right beside the kennedys in bawnreigh, the whites now live over across the border in county tipperary, I dont recall off hand whites in bawnreigh, but the place had lots of families who came to work in the slate quarries, whites lived beside me in knockroe at one time , that house still stands, I wouldnt have knowledge of where individuals you mention went and all my information is of an oral nature via my Mother,Tullahought was the civil parish at that time but now its part of windgap..we could be related bye Hugh
