Hi Denise, I dont want to send you down a time wasting trail but a lot of those names from the Ahenny/Windgap area you mention in your posts appear in the slate belt of Western Rutland County Vermont and Washington County New York from the mid 1800s on. Many were slatemnen at home and emigrated to America to do the same. Names like Kickham and Hyland were here, also White Kennedy and Morrissey but those names are much less geographically specific in Ireland. On the Rutland County Rootsweb Board there is a list of 19th century Naturalizations but nothing similar online for Washington County.
All The Best,
Peter
