I purchased the subject portrait of a young boy holding a bicycle, taken by Holmes, a traveling photographer (permanent address, Oakland, CA). I found it at an antiques store in Fremont (Niles District), CA. The photo is identified on the back in pencil: "Taken Apr 3/96 Edwin Kennedy Livermore Cal 9 1/2 yrs old" I found this individual listed in the 1900, 1910, and 1920 Census data for Livermore, Murray Township, Alameda Co., CA; and the 1930 Census data for San Francisco, San Francisco Co., CA. I also found his WWI draft registration card. His name is recorded as George E. Kennedy in the 1900, 1910, and 1930 Census data. Edwin Kennedy was born 25 Sep 1886 in Livermore, CA, the son of lumber merchant George E. Kennedy, born Feb 1847 in NY, and Henrietta M. (maiden name unknown), born May 1849 in NY. The family resided on Lizzie Street. Edwin had an older sister, Ora J., born Jan 1878 in CA. The 1920 enumerator listed Edwin as a widow with three children. Edwin was then employed in the retail lumber business. Daughter Henrietta A. was born about 1914 in CA, and twin sons George Horton and Edwin A. were born 24 Jun 1915 in CA. California death records for the twins gives their mother's maiden name as Anderson. George Horton died 24 Sep 1983 in Santa Clara Co., CA, and Edwin A. died 7 Dec 1997 in Santa Clara Co., CA. In the WWI draft registration card, Edwin reported that he had served 6 years as a musician in the Infantry Branch of the California National Guard. By the time of the 6 Apr 1930 enumeration, Edwin was married to his second wife, Vore, born about 1902 in NY. Edwin was then working at a placer mine and the family resided at 1557 Clay Street.
