Another bit of history contributed by descendents of Robert Kennedy seems to indicate he must have been among the first settlers is that he helped clear the first road leading from Clifton (Carrolsville then) to Scotts Hill probably the one leading on to Purdy, another settlement that would grow into a thriving center of trade later.Many of the earliest settlers built homes along this old Purdy Road that crossed the Point Pleasant Road just north of the Liberty settlement.
