I have something on a William Kennedy.....
FINCASTLE COUNTY VA PETITION
endorsed as received June 10, 1776
155.William Kennedy
this is a petition from men in Fincastle Co asking for a court closer to them.....they were men coming out of Shenandoah Valley of VA (Augusta, Shenandoah, and Frederick Counties) and some even from PA and Maryland....into the SW VA area (Montgomery, Russell, Scott, etc.) and some even into eastern TN.
In 1777 part of this area became Washington Co VA and included over the border into eastern TN.I do not see a Kennedy on that petition.

I have a book with listing of some of the men at King's Mountain....
KENNEDY.Daniel settled in Greene county, Tennessee, and was its first clerk. He was conspicuous in forming the state of Franklin, and was one of its two brigadier generals.A certified copy of his services in the expedition to King's Mountain is in the minutes of the Masonic lodge at Greenville. He was steadily loyal to Sevier.
Thomas (1756-1836)was a captain under McDowell. He was wounded at Ramseur's mill, present at Earle's Ford, Cane Creek, and King's Mountain, serving under General Rutherford in 1781.He moved from Burke county, North Carolina to Garrard county, Kentucky. He served in the legislatures of Virginia and Kentucky, and was in the Kentucky convention of 1791.
The record of Moses is given by Summers and Eckenrode.
William served under Brandon, near whom he lived. He was considered the best shot of his section, was always active against the tories, and performed many heroic deeds in the Revolution. He refused all opportunities for office, although he had great executive ability, was quick in any emergency, tall athletic, and very handsome in face.He was pensioned in Wayne county, Tennessee, in 1833, when seventy-four.
Robert was a cavalry officer in Washington county, Virginia.
Robert is mentioned by heitman as a captain in the North Carolina service.
