From "Gleanings of History and Genealogy" by John R. Kennamer, Sr.
"There were other Jones who resided at Bridgeport, AL, Robert A. Jones, born Dec. 10, 1842 in Madison County, AL, son of Charles Smithson and Delia (Jones) Jones, who lived in Jackson County born in Virginia. Robert, was greatgrandson of Robert Jones, a Virginian, who served in the Revolutionary War. Jasper Jefferson Jones, who was Major of the Eighteenth Battalion of Alabama Volunteers. C.S.Army and Solicitor of Jackson County two terms was a brother of Robert of Bridgeport. This branch of the family came to Va,. Brunswick County, 1727."
