Thanks so much for your very helpful response. Since I live in DC I need to visit the Virginia Historical Society and see what I can find. Greene Kendrick certainly had a vast correspondence with various Kendricks and did the British research to which you refer. I have a copy of a letter he wrote to a descendant of David Kendrick of Portage Co Oh about 1900 stating David was a son of Thomas Kendrick of Hanover, NH. However, I have not been able to find the evidence for that and hope his files may include some evidence. After I have an opportunity to see what is really at the VHS I'll post a description of what I find.
