My understanding is that a District named KENDRICK usually indicated the Capt. of the militia in that district was named Kendrick. I'm looking at p. 110 of Second or 1807 Land Lottery of GA complied by Rev Silas Lucas Jr. Under Washington County, I see that the following Kendricks are listed in Jones Kendrick's Dist.: Jones Kendrick (He was eligible to draw twice.) Martin Kendrick Also in Kendrick's Dist. in Washington Co. was a James Kendrick. Just a few other items that may be of interest to you-- We know Bennett K. Stansell was in Newton Co. GA as early as 1828 because he married there. Newton became a county in 1821. It was created from Henry, Jasper, and Walton counties. Joel Stancel married in Henry Co. in 1823, John Bennett married in Henry Co. in 1827, Hezekiah Kindrick married in Henry Co. in 1824. So, all 3 families were in the area. According to B. C. Holzclaw in his article "Kendrick of Glouchester Co. VA and NC" in Historical Southern Families, Vol. 1 pp 48-9, there was a Bennett Kendrick (abt 1777-1807 in SC). He was unmarried, and the son of John and Amy Fox Kendrick of VA. I don't know how famous he might have been, but people did name children after famous preachers. Good luck in your search.
