Looking for any info which may help track down my line. I'm the great, great, granddaughter of Nancy KENDRICK, who married my great, great grandfather, Marcus Aurelius Patrick WHITT in 1832, in Tazewell County, VA. Thanks to a great website and a very kind researcher, I now know quite a bit about the KENDRICK line, all the way back to Scotland. It's the WHITT line I'm having trouble tracking, and am hoping someone may be able to help. It looks like Hezekiah WHITT may have lived near the KENDRICKs; maybe there were other WHITTs as well, I can't tell. Here's what I know about Marcus WHITT. If any of the names seem familiar, I'd sure love the help, as I have reached a dead-end when it comes to locating his parentage. Marcus Aurelius WHITT was born in 1809 in Tazewell, Co., VA. He had at least one brother that we know of; his name may have been George or George Julian WHITT. According to family oral history, both brothers were giants and liked to wrestle bears in pits. Also, they were descended from someone who may have been indentured, and had come from Britian with a price on his head for being a "rebel". Marcus WHITT and Nancy KENDRICK lived in VA, then MO and finally AR and had the following children as best as I can figure; maybe the names they chose to give them will hold some clue: Simon Markley, Alvina (or Almyra),James, Narcissa, Richard, and John Wesley. If any of these names,or this story sounds familiar, please let me know. Any and all help is appreciated, and of course I'd enjoy sharing whatever info I have, including some old photos.
