Greetings,,,I wish to post this old book by [Elder] Henry Kendall,,Autobiography,,published by the author,in Ptld.[Portland,Maine] in 1853...it is quite interesting, and possibly a great 'lead' for someone researching their family history,,I have had this book for several years,,being from Maine,,I found it at a yard sale,,don't remember where, but quite a few years back, maybe 1980's,,and being a lover of Maine history,,I have held onto it a long, long time,,and finally it occured to me that maybe I should post it on here,,as I also use this site to find my long lost ancestors,,and felt this may be a help to others who are searching for that 'needle' in a haystack thing,,like myself,,so,,I see some entries that he lived in Center Harbor,N.H.,,and Sanford,Maine..I printed off a posting by a ELAINE MERRILL back in Nov. [06] 2000,,,and meant to get in touch with her,,but must have gotten side-tracked..sorry..[posting#1318]in a listing of Kendall Fam..of Maine, and Erie Cnty Pa. What caught my attention was the 2nd generation,,,['Peter Kendall;Henry Kendall,bJuly 3,1774,Sanford,Me,d,15,July1864..90 yrs old.....This may figure,,as the picture in the book of him?,is of a very elderly gentleman...after reading most of this autobiography,,I deeply empathize with this man,,he surely had a very tough row-to-hoe....but steadfast,yankee-ism prevailed...as he was a Baptist Minister,,et-al....quite a moving saga..personally,,I hope he is in a far better 'place' than he was then,,,Hopefully,,one of you good folk will come up and claim 'him',,this is an old book,,deserves the best of care,,a few condition issues,,but not major,,and would be considered a 'treasure' to any historical society, personal family, archives,,etc,,,remember,,I HAVE BEEN KEEPING THIS in storage for the 'right' person,,otherwise,,will cherish it for myself as a piece of good 'ol Maine History,,if this would mean something dear to your heart,,please feel free to email me..I look forward to hearing from you,,and will consider all reasonable offers to the right person..as this is too special to just let go by the way-side...regards,,a fellow ancestor tracker..
