I am looking for Harry Willis Kendall's parents, etc. He was born 20 April 1888 in Hays, Kansas. He was in Fort Worth, Texas in June 1917 (per draft registration papers)and working for the Coca Cola Bottling Co. He married Lorine Fanning born 1891 in Texas. They had one son, Harry Marion Kendall born 3 Feb. 1907 in Texas and died 29 Jan 1970 in Fort Worth, Texas. In the 1900 Fort Worth, Texas census records, Harry Kendall is listed as a grandson of Nicholas VanHorn and Hattie Vanhorn. However, he is 12 years old and it lists Nicholas and Hattie as only being married for 11 years. Below Nicholas and Hattie Vanhorn, is listed (in same household) Hattie Laneir age 29 (listed as head but it looks like under the word "head" is written "step-daughter") born Ohio, father born in Indiana and mother born in Ohio. Under Hattie Laneir is listed Minnie Laneir (probably her daughter) as granddaughter age 4 born in Texas, father born in New York, and mother born in Ohio. Below Minnie Laneir is listed Harry Kendal, grandson, born in Kansas, father born in New York and mother born in Ohio. I found a SS death index listing Harry Willis Kendall SS# 435-03-1414 (issued in Louisiana before 1951) died Feb 1968 in Texas. Are we confused yet??? I am!! I figure that Hattie was Nicholas VanHorn's second wife. His first wife was Elizabeth (Lizzie) Blout. She died in 1886 in Pecos, Reeves, Texas. He married Hattie in 1889. Any help connection Harry Willis Kendall with his family would be greatly appreciated.
